Overview

Through the generosity of Dr. Rick Workman and his wife, 10 spots for the Bell Leadership Institute Achievers Program are being offered tuition free as part of a leadership development trajectory with a goal of preparing promising mid-career dental faculty for future deanships. The Achievers Program is a three-day in-person meeting held at The Carolina Inn on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus.

The program is offered at several independent times during 2025. Travel expenses, hotel and some meals are the participant’s responsibility.

This initial program offering is restricted to full-time U.S. dental faculty.

To be considered for the Bell Leadership Institute Achievers Program, individuals must be nominated. All nominees and their representative institutions must be ADEA members.

Nomination criteria are below:

  • A brief letter of endorsement by the dental faculty member’s dean that indicates the nominee’s promise for a future higher education leadership role.
  • Nominee is a full-time employee of the institution.
  • Nominee holds title of Assistant/Associate Dean or Department Chair.
  • Nominee has been in the above leadership role a minimum of two years.
  • Nominee has a desire for a future deanship or other leadership position in higher education.
  • Your application to this scholarship will use the information in your ADEA profile. Please ensure your profile is updated by going to adea.org/myadea.
  • All ADEA program participants or scholarship recipients will be required to agree to comply with the ADEA Code of Conduct for Meetings, Conferences, Events, and Virtual Communities, which is available on the ADEA website.
