ADEA/Haleon Dental Hygiene Scholarship 

Purpose

The ADEA/Haleon Dental Hygiene Scholarship aims to support and empower future dental hygienists who are dedicated to improving everyday health with humanity. This scholarship focuses on individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to community health and align with Haleon’s mission of delivering better everyday health by supporting the development of dental professionals who contribute to the well-being of their communities by empowering individuals prioritize their health.

Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited dental hygiene program, pursuing a full-time course of study and have at least one year remaining before completing their program. The candidate must demonstrate their interest in advancing community health through academic work and/or personal initiatives. Only one candidate may be submitted for each dental hygiene program, and we ask that each candidate discuss this opportunity with their Program Director prior to filing an application.

Overview

The ADEA/Haleon Dental Hygiene scholarship provides one award in the amount of $2,500 to a dental hygiene student who is pursuing a career in dental hygiene. This scholarship is designed to foster the growth of dental hygienists who are not only academically dedicated but also have a passion for improving oral health in underserved communities.

  • ADEA will consider only one candidate application submitted for each dental hygiene program. (Please discuss this opportunity with your Program Director prior to applying.)
  • Candidates must be enrolled full-time in an accredited dental hygiene program.
  • Candidates must demonstrate an interest in advancing community health through academic work and/or personal initiatives.

The following items must be submitted by Sept. 10, 2026, using the ADEA online application process:

  1. A personal essay (no more than 500 words) that describes how applicant has advanced community health through academic work and/or personal initiatives and highlights the applicant’s work in contributing to the well-being of their communities by empowering individuals to prioritize their health and
  2. A letter from the Program Director that confirms the full-time status of the candidate in an accredited dental hygiene program and verifies the activities that demonstrate a commitment to advancing community health through academic work and/or personal initiatives.

Scholarship recipients will be required to comply with the ADEA Code of Conduct for Meetings, Conferences, Events, and Virtual Communities.

Identified information (e.g., biographies) of successful winners will be published on the ADEA website, shared with winner's home institution and may be used in ADEA promotional material. By accepting this scholarship, winner agrees to have read this disclaimer and understands how their information could be used.

Scholarship recipients and applicants not receiving awards will be notified by December 2026.

Awards will be announced during the 2027 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition, March 13–16, 2027, in Chicago, IL.
