Purpose

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA), through the generosity of Dr. Felicia Tucker-Lively, has launched the ADEA/AAL Chairs and Academic Administrators Management Program Scholarship. The scholarship will enable recipients to attend the AAL Chairs and Academic Administrators Management Program tuition-free, as part of a leadership development trajectory, with the goal of preparing Chairs and Academic Administrators for their current and future careers.

Overview

The AAL Chairs and Academic Administrators Management Program is a three-day, in-person meeting held from July 28-30, 2025, in Atlanta, GA. This initial program is restricted to ADEA members who are either full-time chairs or academic administrators currently employed at an institute for oral health (e.g. dental school, dental hygiene or dental assisting program).

Three tuition scholarships will be awarded in 2025.

If a recipient is no longer employed at their current institution by the end of July 20, 2025, they must pay AAL for the tuition.

Nomination Criteria

  • An attestation that their application to this program has the agreement of their supervisor;
  • Nominee is a full-time employee of the institution;
  • Nominee holds a title of Chair or Academic Administrators at their institution; and
  • Nominee desires to learn strategies to be an influential leader, develop and continuously enhance their leadership approach and effectively manage their unit, program or department to align with institutional goals.

Application Process Checklist

The following application materials are required and must be uploaded to the online application:

  1. Short description explaining why you want to take this program and how you will use the skills learned and
  2. Curriculum vitae.

De-identified applicant information will be used to improve scholarships at ADEA and may be published. Identified information (e.g., biographies) of successful winners will be published on the ADEA website, shared with your home institution, and may be used in ADEA promotional material.

By applying for this scholarship, applicants agree that they have read and understand how their information could be used.

All participants must comply with the ADEA Code of Conduct for Meetings, Conferences, Events and Virtual Communities.

Application Deadline

All application materials must be submitted by July 14, 2025.

Notification Date and Award Announcement

Scholarship recipients and applicants not receiving awards will be notified by July 16, 2025.
