Student Leaders for Social Change

ADEA Student Leaders for Social Change (ADEA SLSC)

In 2026, the ADEA Student Leaders for Social Change (ADEA SLSC) will expand from a day-and-a-half program held during the ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition to a hybrid, six-month, cohort-based program designed to cultivate a new generation of oral health student leaders committed to leadership and social responsibility in their communities and the profession.

2026 ADEA Student Leaders for Social Change

Overview

Program Overview

The 2026 ADEA SLSC will bring together a cohort of second- and third-year predoctoral dental students and all levels of allied dental students from across the United States and Canada.

Unlike prior years, the revised 2026 program will span six months (March–August) and is delivered through a hybrid format that includes in-person sessions, synchronous and asynchronous online instruction and independent learning.

This structure provides participants with time to build deeper connections; broaden their leadership capacity; and engage with experts across oral health, higher education and related health professions.

Institutional Support

Participation in ADEA SLSC requires nomination by a dental school dean or allied dental program director.

Institutions are asked to support students’ participation beyond a nomination to include funding (i.e., transportation, lodging, meals and registration) for them to participate in the in-person opening session of the program at the ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition held in March.
