ADEA Allied Dental New Program Director Academy

2026 ADEA Allied Dental New Program Director Academy (ADNPDA)

Empowering New Leaders, Promoting Program Excellence

Academy Description

Designed specifically for new allied dental program directors in their first three years of the role, this year-long, three-phase leadership development program offers a comprehensive pathway to academic program and administrative excellence. New program directors will build foundational leadership skills through an intensive workshop, engage with peers and experienced mentors during the ADEA Allied Dental Program Directors’ Conference and advance their leadership through ongoing mentorship and collaborative group projects in-person and online. The program culminates each summer with a celebration recognizing the accomplishments of the graduating cohort and welcoming the next group of new program directors, fostering continuity, community and shared purpose across the allied dental community.

Academy Hours

To be successful in the Academy, participants must fully participate in all three (3) phases of the Academy: the Workshop, Conference Connections and attendance at the ADEA Allied Dental Program Directors’ Conference (ADPDC) and monthly virtual synchronous sessions with assignments. Participants will interact with the content, the facilitators and colleagues on a regular basis throughout the year—both synchronously and asynchronously. The Academy concludes at the end of the year-long program with an Academy Graduation and Reception.

Please note that registration for the Academy is separate from the registration for ADPDC. Academy participants must register for both the Academy and for ADPDC.

Eligibility

The Academy is for a new Program Director of a dental hygiene, dental assisting, dental laboratory technology or dental therapy program who has been in their directorship for 3 years or less at the start of the Academy in June 2026.

Participants must submit an enrollment form stating their commitment to participating in all phases of the Academy. This means, in addition to committing their time, program participants must also financially commit to attending all phases of the Academy. The enrollment form may be found at the link below.
