5 Questions

ADEA membership is made up of a diverse group of professions that span all facets of dentistry and dental education. But we are more than just our professions.

In the feature 5 Questions With, we shine a spotlight on various ADEA members, asking them five questions (both professional and personal), giving us all a chance to get to know one another better.

1. What makes you excited to go to work each day?

My residents and patients are what keep me going each and every day, as I could not do my job without my amazing pediatric dental residents. Their dedication and hard work advocating for our patient population make me extremely proud.

2. If you could change one thing about dental education (or dentistry) with a snap of your fingers, what would that be?

I think I would change dental education to require a one-year Advanced Education in a General Dentistry residency or General Practice Residency in lieu of a licensing exam. I value advanced education beyond four years of dental school, as there is still so much more to learn to grow professionally.

3. What’s a major development in your field that’s flying under the radar?

Dental modalities in the treatment of pediatric obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). This is my research area of interest that I have been passionate about for the last eight years, and I look forward to discovering more concrete evidence regarding appliance therapy in the treatment of pediatric OSA.

4. What’s your philosophy in 10 words or less?

"You got this!"

5. If you could be in any movie, what part would you want to play?

As an avid sports fan and concert goer, I picture myself portraying an athlete or musician in a biopic.
