The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship has announced its 2026-27 cohort of 247 fellows, including seven ADEA dental student members.

Each student and their institution are noted below:

• Scarlett Schrimper, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry
• Ayesha Tahirkheli, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry
• Will Witt, East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine
• Tiffany Arman, University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry
• Millie Hernandez, University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry
• Mansi Shah, University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry

Also selected this year is Sahitya Ambesh, from University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry, who will partner with UCSF Citywide Case Management to expand access to dental care for individuals recovering from substance use disorders.

Founded in 1940, The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship is a nonprofit organization that develops emerging health leaders by pairing graduate students with underserved communities for a year of collaborative, service-based learning. Fellows work alongside community partners to co-design projects that address pressing health and social challenges, including mental health, food security, maternal health and chronic disease, with solutions grounded in local needs and priorities.

The 2026-27 cohort includes students from 53 partner academic institutions across 10 chapters nationwide and builds on the impact of last year’s class, which served more than 23,000 individuals.

Nearly 70% of fellowship projects continue beyond the fellowship year, and participants join a lifelong network of more than 5,000 Albert Schweitzer Fellows who are advancing health care, public health and health policy across the country.
