When someone visits the emergency room after hours with a toothache, doctors often have no option but to prescribe pain pills, which can be highly addictive and minimally effective at relieving tooth pain. Students and faculty from ATSU-ASDOH have introduced a more effective solution that presents no risk of addiction.
SDM Students Deliver Healthy Smiles at Special Olympics Games
Volunteers from UConn SDM helped keep smiles healthy and bright during the 2019 Special Olympics Connecticut Summer Games. The screenings at the Special Smiles clinic are conducted as part of the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes program which provides a wide range of free health screenings to all Special Olympians.

Stony Brook SDM's annual day of research, the Leo and Mickey Sreebny Lectureship and School of Dental Medicine Research Symposium, highlights research advancements in the field of oral health completed by members of the school's community.
June 2019 marked the centennial of the USPHS Dental Corps. Ernest Eugene Buell became the first commissioned dental officer in the USPHS in June 1919. Today, USPHS dentists serve in a variety of roles across the country.
