Inequities
and barriers continue to be at play for oral health patients, especially for
people with complex medical conditions, social issues or behavioral health care
needs. A new program at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine seeks to
improve oral health care for these vulnerable populations with collaboration between the medical and dental
health systems.
“This new UBC dental clinic, in partnership with the [Elizabeth Fry] Health Center, exemplifies the Faculty’s strategic plan across our four core areas: people, research, education and engagement,” said Mary MacDougall, Ph.D., Dean of University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry. The Center offers one-stop access to holistic, gender-sensitive, trauma-informed and culturally safe health care.
