Notre-Dame Basilica & Place d’Armes

Step into the grandeur of Gothic Revival at the Notre-Dame Basilica, filled with sculpted woodwork, gilded ceilings and a commanding 7,000-pipe organ. Just outside lies Place d’Armes, a historical square surrounded by some of Montréal’s oldest architectural treasures.

Pointe-à-Callière — Museum of Archeology and History

Designated a national archaeological and historic site, Pointe-à-Callière presents centuries of history from the settlements of our First Peoples to the present day. Located on a spot occupied by humans for more than a thousand years and on the very site where Montréal was founded, the museum is home to some remarkable architectural ruins that are showcased on site.

Old Montréal & Old Port

Wander through cobblestone streets of Old Montréal, known as a site rich in colonial charm, street performers, galleries and the historic Old Port. At the Old Port, enjoy riverside promenades, cycling, rollerblading or relaxing at the Clock Tower Beach. 

Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC)

Canada’s first museum dedicated to contemporary art, the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, is located in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles and part of the Place des Arts.

Quartier des Spectacles & Underground City (RÉSO)

Immerse yourself in the artsy energy of the Quartier des Spectacles, home to performance venues, festivals and urban design. Below street level, the RÉSO (Underground City) connects the Palais, Place des Arts, shops, galleries, metro and more. It is ideal for winter weather or exploring hidden urban gems.

Mount Royal Park

For a nature-meets-city escape, Mount Royal Park offers scenic vistas, Beaver Lake and lovely walking or winter trails.

Saint Joseph’s Oratory

 35-min drive

Oratoire Saint-Joseph du Mont Royal, built in Italian Renaissance style, is Canada’s largest church. The basilica, dedicated to St. Joseph, is best known for its link to the legendary “Brother Andre”, one of the most popular Quebecois of the 20th century who reportedly performed miraculous healings on the sick or injured.

Parc Olympique

A daring architectural site, the Olympic Park was built to accommodate the 1976 Summer Olympics and has since been host to more than 100 million visitors. Whether to admire Montréal from atop the highest inclined tower in the world, to attend an event in the Stadium, to exercise at the Sports Centre—which is also home to major national and international competitions—or to take part in an outdoor event at the Esplanade, there is something for everyone at the Olympic Park.

Botanical Garden

The Montreal Botanical Garden, with its themed Chinese, Japanese, Indigenous and alpine gardens, is a world of beauty around 75 hectares (roughly 185 acres).

Nouilles de Lan Zhou (Chinatown)
This restaurant features authentic hand pulled noodles with chili oil and flavorful beef—an unmissable taste of local life near the Palais. 

Tiradito
A unique Japanese Peruvian fusion restaurant, offering ceviches, yucca fries, papas rellenas and vibrant cocktails. (Check out the downstairs bar, Pelicano). 

Terrasse Place d’Armes
A restaurant on the rooftop terrace in Hotel Place d’Armes which is a sunny spot to unwind with finger food, beers, cocktails and views. 

La Finca Coffee & Office
This is a cozy coffee shop and workspace, serving pastries, soups, salads and sandwiches. Perfect for a midmorning break. 

Toqué!
A fine-dining gem celebrated for Québécois cuisine and market-fresh ingredients. It is also an excellent venue for special dinners or business meals.

Both are within a 10-minute walk of the Palais des Congrès de Montréal:
