ADEA AADSAS Fee Assistance Program (FAP)

The ADEA AADSAS Fee Assistance Program (FAP) is a fee waiver program that helps eligible individuals who need financial support with their dental school application. Individuals approved for FAP receive a fee waiver for three dental school applications in ADEA AADSAS® (Associated American Dental School Application Service).

The 2026-27 FAP application will open on April 15, 2026. For assistance, please visit the FAP Help Center or email FAPAADSAS@adea.org.

Eligible applicants are approved on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is recommended applicants apply to FAP as early as possible after it opens. Applications cannot be updated; therefore, applicants must include all relevant documentation at the time of submission.

Instructions for the 2026-27 FAP application are now available in the FAP Help Center.

Eligible applicants approved for FAP receive a fee waiver for three ADEA AADSAS-participating dental schools—a $494 value.

ADEA AADSAS FAP is an independent program, and approval of fee assistance is at the sole discretion of ADEA.

New in 2026!

Eligible applicants should submit the FAP application between April 15, 2026, and June 2, 2026. To better align with the dental school application timeline and allow early FAP applicants to submit their ADEA AADSAS designations sooner, notifications to approved applicants will begin on June 3, 2026.

Approved applicants will have 30 days after notification to submit to ADEA AADSAS.

This program is provided directly by ADEA and is not tied to any government, college, university, scholarship, grant or fellowship program. Approval for fee assistance is solely at the discretion of ADEA.

Fee Assistance Program (FAP) Quick Guide

  1. Determine eligibility:
    • Individuals and family members adjusted gross income (AGI) must be at or below 300% of the U.S. poverty guidelines.
    • Individuals must submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Submission Summary or relevant documents.
  2.
  3. Prepare to apply:
    • Obtain a DENTPIN. Information about the DENTPIN is available at ada.org/topic/DENTPIN.
    • Review all details in the instructions and FAQs.
    • Collect relevant financial documents. 2025 tax returns for yourself and your parents/spouse, depending on your age and status, are required.
  4.
  5. Apply to FAP:
    • Create an application, attach all necessary documents and submit the FAP application prior to June 2, 2026. While you can save your progress and return to the application later, you only can apply once, so be meticulous and provide correct information.
  6.
  7. Wait patiently for the FAP decision:
    • Do not submit your ADEA AADSAS application. If the application is submitted before your FAP waiver is approved, you will automatically be ineligible.
  8.
  9. Receive FAP notification:
    • If not approved, continue with the ADEA AADSAS application. All decisions are final.
  10.
  11. Submit your ADEA AADSAS application for three schools:
    • Select three dental schools in ADEA AADSAS and submit them all at one time to qualify for the full waiver. Submissions must take place within 30 calendar days of receiving the FAP approval notification.
