The William J. Gies Awards for Vision, Innovation and Achievement

Attend the 2026 Gies Awards Celebration

In 2026, the ADEAGies Foundation® celebrates 100 years since the publication of the landmark report by the Carnegie Foundation in 1926: Dental Education in the United States and Canada, commonly referred to as the “Gies Report”, authored by Dr. William J. Gies.

On March 23, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., join us for this prestigious event at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, Montréal, Canada, to celebrate the 2026 awardees.

Event tickets will be available for purchase in fall 2025.

Gies awardees are uniquely positioned to propel the work of the foundation through their innovative contributions that advance oral health education and exemplify the vision of Dr. Gies and the ADEAGies Foundation.

The Gies Awards honor one awardee in each of the three categories:
  • Gies Award for Eminence in Innovation
  • Gies Award for Eminence in Achievement
  • Gies Award for Eminence in Vision and Leadership

In each category, awardees can be individuals, institutions or public/private partners who are advancing dental education in the most significant ways.

The ADEAGies Foundation also honors promising junior faculty members whose accomplishments, to date, signal a creative endeavor to improve dental education through individual research, programming and teaching/learning pursuits in two categories:

Two junior faculty awards:
  • ADEAGies Foundation William J. Gies Award for Junior Faculty Achievement in Oral Health Education
  • ADEAGies Foundation William J. Gies Award for Junior Faculty Achievement in Allied Oral Health Education
