Dental Students and Faculty Walk the Golden Gate Bridge in Support of Juvenile Diabetes Cure

Dental students and faculty from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), School of Dentistry recently joined together to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge in support of juvenile diabetes research.

Mr. Sultan Mohammed, a Class of 2013 D.M.D. student at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM), was recently honored at the Hinman Symposium in Memphis Tennessee. Mr. Mohammed won the Most Outstanding Presentation in Clinical Research award for his poster “Upregulation of Cthrc1 N-glycoprotein Marks OSCC Tumor Spread.”

Helping Hands: Pacific Students and Faculty Provide Dental Care at Project Homeless Connect

Students and faculty from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry participated in San Francisco's Project Homeless Connect (PHC) event on October 5, 2011. Throughout the day, students worked to provide free dental screenings and basic care to homeless individuals.

Loma Linda University (LLU) School of Dentistry will hold an open house and ribbon cutting on November 28, 2011, in Palm Desert, California. At the event, LLU and School of Dentistry officials will announce the launch of a new dental hygiene associate of science degree program in the Coachella Valley municipality.

A new pilot project at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry has brought iPads into the school's main clinic. Students are using iPads equipped with a special application that gives them a new way to communicate with patients, discuss oral health topics and dental procedures, and educate patients about the health of their mouths.
