Shaping the Future of Dental Education III—Oral Health From a Global Perspective, co-led by the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE), was held on April 25-27, 2019 in Brescia, Italy. This visionary global meeting brought together dental educators from around the globe to discuss critical topics in dental education centered on improving oral and overall health. 

Shaping the Future of Dental Education III was “III” for a reason. Our last joint ADEA/ADEE meeting in London, UK in 2017 drew more than 350 attendees from 50 countries and earned high praise.

Building on foundations set forth at the 2017 meeting in London, Shaping the Future of Dental Education III delved into:

• Best practices for assessing dental student competencies.
• Interprofessional education.
• Emergent trends in science and technology.
• Global networks of person-centered care.

Colleges shared what dental schools are doing globally, nationally, regionally and locally to improve total health through oral health, with an emphasis on underserved populations. The expertise, professional discussion and discourse added to our capacity as faculty to enhance the higher education environments for our students and colleagues alike.

ADEA International Women’s Leadership Conference VI!
