The ADEA Leadership Institute Phase V is an exceptional encounter designed to invigorate leadership development, stretch thinking, push potential and rejuvenate the networks and relationships that are hallmarks of the ADEA Leadership Institute.

The 2020 Phase V program will explore communication strategies for effective leadership. Attendees will assess their preferences in communication, learn about communication practices used by internationally recognized leaders and engage in improvisation to improve their communication skills. Phase V is an interactive experience, with ample opportunities for networking, engaging and learning from each other.


Overall Program Learning Objectives

  • Assess communication styles as a basis for improving how one influences others.
  • Practice improvisation as a technique to improve leadership communication.
  • Construct strategies for addressing communication issues leaders face.

The Leadership Institute Phase V program is an invitation-only meeting

Registration includes all materials, hosted meals, refreshment breaks and any receptions. Registrants are responsible for lodging and travel costs.

To provide an appropriate professional setting, children and spouses/guests are not permitted to attend any 2020 ADEA Leadership Institute Phase V events.

The ADEA Phase V program is a highly interactive experience and participants are expected to attend all meal, reception and team-building activities. We appreciate your understanding of this policy

NOTICE

ADEA photographs and videotapes events. By registering, you give ADEA permission to use for promotional purposes any images taken at the conference in which you appear, as well as any written comments you submit on evaluation forms.

MEDIA POLICY

Registrants are not permitted to invite media to ADEA events without the express written consent and approval of the ADEA Chief of Staff. Requests for media attendance should be sent to Renee Latimer at LatimerR@adea.org no later than Jan. 7, 2020.

  • The room rate for ADEA attendees is $199 per night, single or double occupancy, plus applicable taxes (currently 14%).
  • The rate for each additional person, age 18 and older, is $199 plus applicable taxes, per person, per night.
  • All rates are per room, per night and are subject to a 14% room tax.
  • A deposit by major credit card is required at the time of booking.
  • Rates may be available three days before and after the conference, based on availability.

The deadline to make hotel reservations at the group rate is Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, or when the group rate rooms sell out, whichever occurs first. After Jan. 7, reservations at the group rate will be accepted only on a space available basis. The room block may fill before Jan. 7 so we encourage you to make your reservations early.

Reservations may be cancelled up to 72 hours prior to reserved arrival date at no charge. For cancellations made after the time noted, the hotel will retain the room deposit of one night plus applicable taxes.

Hotel check-in time is 4:00 p.m. or earlier as rooms become available. Check-out time is noon. Please contact the hotel directly should you need to cancel your hotel reservation.

You are responsible for making your hotel arrangements directly with the property. The registration does not include hotel arrangements, flight, ground transportation or any incidentals related to traveling to the workshop.

Which is the closest airport to the conference site?

The closest airport is the Charleston International Airport (CHS), which is approximately 12 miles away.
