ADEA Leadership Institute 
Class of 2022 

Dr. Al Sakka received his D.D.S. from University of Jordan. He completed his Certificate in Prosthodontics from Indiana University School of Dentistry. He is an Associate Professor in the Division of Prosthodontics, Clinical Associate Professor in Graduate Periodontics and Director of Digital Technologies at University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. He is the Course Director of three preclinical prosthodontic and restorative courses.

Dr. Al Sakka has served on the Joint Commission on the National Dental Examinations of the American Dental Association as a subject matter expert since 2015 in the area of fixed, removable and implant dentistry, and he continues to serve on several committees at the University of Oklahoma. He also taught many continuing education courses and is currently involved in several research projects in the area of implants and digital dentistry.

Dr. Bugueno earned his dental degree at University of Concepcion in his native country, Chile. He graduated cum laude, worked as general dentist and then completed an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency. He also pursued an Oral Medicine residency, Geriatric fellowship and Oral Biology master’s degree program at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. During this time, he won the 2013 Lester Burket Research Award and a case presentation prize at a national meeting. Subsequently, he became Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine. In 2017, he won the ADEA/AAL Faculty of Color Tuition Scholarship for Professional Development and participated in the ADEA Summer Program for Emerging Academic Leaders.

Currently, Dr. Bugueno collaborates in teaching, clinical and administrative activities; participates in the Admission and Recruitment Committee; and chairs both the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and COVID-19 Task Force of West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He has published scientific papers and actively participates in research. He is part of the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Oral Medicine and Chair of the Publication Committee of this organization. Dr. Bugueno also belongs to the WV Cancer Plan Committee.

Dr. Correa is an Associate Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM). He graduated from the University of Veracruz (Universidad Veracruzana) in Mexico in 1993. Currently, Dr. Correa is Director of the Division of Craniofacial Pain in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at TUSDM. He also serves as Program Director of the Division’s two advanced graduate education programs, the Dental Sleep Medicine Fellowship since 2014 and the Orofacial Pain Advanced Graduate Education program since August 2020.

At TUSDM, Dr. Correa has mentored students in Dental Sleep Medicine and temporomandibular disorder for more than 12 years and he has taken on an increasing number of significant leadership responsibilities during his tenure at TUSDM. He has been invited to present at institutions in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, and he has contributed multiple abstracts and publications over the years.

In addition to the service Dr. Correa provides within TUSDM, he also plays a leadership role outside of the institution, having organized multiple community service events both locally, in the greater Boston area, and internationally for both faculty and students.

Dr. Dana is the Director of Student Assessment at Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine – South Jordan, Utah, (Roseman CODM) where he is responsible for the student learning experience and administrative management of assessment activities, competency attainment and entrustable professional activities of the predoctoral dental program. In addition to these responsibilities, he works on curriculum development, teaching and learning and faculty development.

He completed a bachelor’s degree at the University of Utah in 2000, and then received his dental degree from the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in 2003. Upon graduation, he owned and operated private dental practices in both Utah and Wyoming.

In 2013, Dr. Dana embraced the opportunity to become an early faculty member at Roseman CODM, Utah’s first dental school. Recognizing the need for development, he looked to further his education and received a Master of Education Administration from University of the Pacific Gladys L. Benerd School of Education in 2014 and then a Ph.D. from Brigham Young University in Educational Research in 2019.

Dr. Doubleday is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry (UIC COD). Dr. Doubleday teaches Gross Anatomy and Embryology to first-year dental students and engages in predoctoral curriculum development with a focus on the biomedical sciences.

As Director of Faculty Development, Dr. Doubleday supports faculty teaching efforts through targeted workshops and through her work with a longitudinal faculty development program, which is co-taught with faculty in the UIC College of Medicine. She regularly publishes educational research articles in peer-reviewed journals. In 2013, Dr. Doubleday was accepted as a participant in the Illinois Board of Higher Education Faculty Fellowship Program.

In 2016, she received the Olav Alvares Award for Outstanding Article by Junior Scholars for her article published in the ADEA Journal of Dental Education, “Exploring Faculty Knowledge and Perceptions of Copyright at U.S. Dental Schools: A Pilot Study.” Dr. Doubleday is the recipient of four Golden Apple Awards, the Jon Daniel Teaching Award and is an honoree in the UIC Teaching Recognition Program. In 2016, Dr. Doubleday received the ADEA/Colgate-Palmolive Co. Excellence in Teaching Award.

Dr. Falcon is Predoctoral Endodontics Program Director at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey School of Dental Medicine. She oversees all didactic, preclinical and clinical predoctoral endodontic programing. She is also heavily involved with the postgraduate Advanced Education Program in Endodontics.

Dr. Falcon is the 2016 recipient of the Endodontic Educator Fellowship Award from the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) Foundation for Endodontics and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. She has served on several special committees with the AAE and has chaired the AAE Membership Services Committee since 2016.

Dr. Falcon’s research interests are in Endodontic clinical outcomes and her recent articles have been published in several peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Endodontics.

Dr. Yura Godwin has a Doctorate of Dental Surgery and is a Masters of Health Care Administration candidate with an expected graduation date in August 2021. She is Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry, Director of the Biddington Center for Dental Innovation and Director of the Dental Group Faculty Practice at West Virginia University School of Dentistry (WVU SOD).

Currently, Dr. Yura Godwin is Course Director for two courses at WVU SOD, Interprofessional Education and Introduction to Clinic. As Director of the Biddington Center for Dental Innovation, she created the model, curriculum and schedules for second-year, third-year and fourth-year students. Dr. Yura Godwin provides all the training in the Center and creates the material, equipment and technology requests. As Director of Faculty Practice, Dr. Yura Godwin is the contact person between clinical administration and the staff and faculty providing care in the dental group faculty practice. She has staff team huddle sessions and aids in providing support to all stakeholders involved in the faculty practice.

She received the Faculty of the Year Award in 2020, the Pierre Fauchard Academy Special Award Recipient Award in 2018 and the Co-Faculty of the Year Award in 2018. In 2018, Dr. Yura Godwin’s paper “Center for Research and Education in Technology (CRET) Opens Third Innovation Center at West Virginia University School of Dentistry: A Review of the West Virginia University School of Dentistry and Dr. W. Robert Biddington Center for Dental Innovation,” appeared in the journal, Dental Hypotheses.

Dr. Gül is Assistant Professor and Director of Medically Complex Patient Care Clinic in the Division of Medicine in the Department of Comprehensive Care Medicine at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM). Dr. Gül received her dental degree from Hacettepe University in Turkey. She has an M.B.A. from Suffolk Sawyer School of Management, an M.P.H. from Tufts University School of Medicine and a Certificate of Pediatric Dentistry and M.S. degrees from TUSDM.

Dr. Gül has held responsibilities as Corporate Director for Hospital Operations and Project Consultant to many private and nonprofit institutions, including Bayindir Health Care Systems, Mother Children Education Foundation in Istanbul, Turkey, the Harvard Management International and Health Care City Dental Clinic Project in Dubai. Dr. Gül’s projects focused on creating integrated health care systems and value-based strategies for health care entities. She has also held responsibilities as the Course Director in Epidemiology and Public Health.

Dr. Gül has practiced as a pediatric dentist in public health settings, including Forsyth Faculty Associates at the Forsyth Institute. She is a Technology Curator for Technology Conference CCI at ADEA. Dr. Gül is a recipient of Richard Allard Award by Massachusetts Dental Society for aiding families who suffered from abuse and neglect. She has also received the Jonathan M. Tisch College Citizenship and Public Affairs Fellowship award. She is a ADEA Emerging Leaders Program Fellow.

Dr. Islam serves and was trained in Oral Pathology at the University of Florida College of Dentistry (UF COD). He then joined the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2007 as an Assistant Professor and achieved his D.D.S. degree in the United States. He serves as a Professor and as Residency Program & Internship Director of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology at UF COD.

Dr. Islam has lectured extensively in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, India, Canada and Brazil. He works towards women empowerment and helps create diversity and racial balance in dental school’s class selection.

Dr. Islam is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Dental Education Association where he served as Chair of the ADEA Oral Pathology Section. He has also served as an American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology (AAOMP) Fellow and an American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Diplomate. Dr. Islam has more than 70 peer-reviewed articles, 25 non-peer reviewed articles as well as over 90 national and 20 international presentations and book chapters. He chaired of the College’s Faculty Advisory Board as well as the Faculty Assembly between 2017– 2019.

He is currently the AAOMP Fellowship Committee Member and Examiner. Dr. Islam intends to spend his future years toward championing the noble cause of uplifting the spirits of acid-attack victims and their rehabilitation.

Dr. Johnson is a board-certified Pediatric Dentist and currently serves as Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Program Director for the Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry at Louisiana State University Health New Orleans School of Dentistry (LSUSD). He received his D.M.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry (UKCD) in 2001 where he also completed a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry in 2003 and a Master of Public Health in 2005.

Dr. Johnson began his career at the UKCD as Assistant Professor and Program Director of the Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program. Following his time there, he established a successful multi-office, pediatric dental practice. After 15 years, he returned to academic leadership at LSUSD where he is responsible for coordinating all Pediatric Dentistry education.

Dr. Johnson’s interests vary from equity and social justice in health care to building oral health care systems that are efficient, effective and financially viable. In addition to ADEA, Dr. Johnson is a member of the American Dental Association, the Louisiana Dental Association, the Kentucky Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He has previously been a Health Resources & Services Administration grant awardee, a Junior Faculty Member of the Year, President of the Kentucky Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and has been Principal Speaker at Continuing Education courses throughout the Southeast and Midwest.

Prof. Lory Laughter is the Dental Hygiene Program Director at University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry (Dugoni School). She earned her bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from Idaho State University and a Master's degree from University of California, San Francisco.

Prof. Laughter joined the Dugoni School in 2017 as a full-time faculty member and teaches in junior and senior clinic and senior research project along with her duties as program director. She is member Dental School Research Committee, Curriculum Committee, Committee for Academic Planning and Development and the Accreditation Oversight Committee.

Prof. Laughter has delivered dental continuing education nationally and internationally since 2009. Prof. Laughter was the President of the California Dental Hygienists' Association (CDHA) from 2017 – 2018. She has been published in the Journal of Dental Hygiene, the Journal of Dental Education and American Journal of Infection Control. She was awarded the Sunstar Award of Distinction in 2015 and an Excellence in Teaching Award in 2018. Prof. Laughter is also a member of member of CDHA, ADEA and Phi Kappa Phi.

Dr. Lee received his D.D.S. from the National Taiwan University, his M.S. and Certificate in Periodontics from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and his D.M.Sc. in Oral Biology from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He is currently the Associate Professor and Director of Research at Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at UTHealth San Antonio School of Dentistry. As the Course Director and Lecturer, he is involved in chair-side clinical teaching and teaches didactic courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Additionally, he supervises students for research projects.

Dr. Lee’s research focuses on understanding resolution of inflammation mediated by specialized pro-resolving mediators in Periodontitis and he is also active in clinical studies in periodontology, implantology and evidence-based dentistry. He has published 29 times in peer-reviewed journals, written three book chapters and edited two textbooks.

Currently, he served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Houston Section of American Association of Dental Research (AADR) and as a member in IADR/AADR, American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and Southwest Society of Periodontists Committees. Dr. Lee received the 2016 AAP Foundation Fellowship to the AAL Institute for Teaching & Learning in the Health Professions, the 2017 AAP Foundation Teaching Fellowship, the 2019 AAP Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring in Periodontics Award and attended the AAP Leadership, Engagement, Action and Development Program in 2018.

Dr. Liu is a clinician scientist and tenured Associate Professor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry (U-M SOD). At U-M SOD, Dr. Liu currently serves as the Associate Chair of Prosthodontics, the Chair of Ph.D. Admission Committee of Oral Health Science Program and member of Executive Committee. In addition to the research activity and administrative role, Dr. Liu teaches dental students and graduate Prosthodontic residents, and treats Prosthodontic patients.

As a bone biologist, his research program focuses on the cell and molecular biology of mineralized tissues with an emphasis on skeletal and craniofacial bone development and diseases. He received the Young Investigator Award from the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research. In his independent research program, he has received grants from the National Institutes of Health as principle investigtor.

Dr. Liu is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and fellow of American College of Prosthodontists (ACP). He won the first place in the Remo Sinibaldi Memorial Table Clinic Competition from American College of Prosthodontist. He had served as Chair of Tylman Research Committee from 2013 – 2018 and as Board Director of American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics from 2017 – 2020.

Dr. Melo is an Associate Professor and Director of the Operative Dentistry Division at the Department of General Dentistry at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UM SOD). She received her dental Doctorate Degree from the Fortaleza University, Brazil, in 2000, and a Master of Science and Ph.D. degree from Federal University of Ceara, Brazil, in 2009 and 2012, respectively. She joined the UM SOD faculty in 2013 and is actively involved in many other aspects of the graduate and undergraduate curricula, serving as a Lecturer, Research Mentor and Course Director.

Dr. Melo’s main areas of research focus primarily on oral biofilm control by investigating anti-biofilm nanotechnologies for the oral health care field. She was the recipient of The International Academy for Adhesive Dentistry’s Fusayama Scientist Award in 2017. Her research has led to numerous peer-reviewed publications and several presentations at local and national meetings. She has mentored several undergraduate students, dental students and residents in research.

Dr. Melo is a fellow of the Academy of Dental Materials and a member of the Academy of Operative Dentistry, the International Association for Dental Research, the Society for Color and Appearance in Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr. Mitchell is a tenured Professor and Associate Dean for Dental Research at both Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine-Illinois and Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine-Arizona. He completed his Ph.D. in 1999 and was a faculty member at Oregon Health & Science University from 2001 through 2013, rising from Assistant Professor through Professor and Director of Research at OHSU. He joined Midwestern University in 2013 as Director of Research and was promoted to Assistant Dean in 2016 and Associate Dean in 2019.

Dr. Mitchell has been the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator for several National Institutes of Health, foundation and industry grants. He is a Fellow of the American Association for Dental Research and a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Mitchell has served multiple International Association of Dental Research leadership roles, including President and Councilor for the Implantology Research Group and as the Chair of the ADEA Implant Special Interest Group.

Dr. Mitchell’s research is in the areas of biomaterials and biomechanics. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles in top-tier international journals, written 11 book chapters and has over 230 published abstracts of research presentations. Dr. Mitchell mentors graduate and undergraduate students and serves as the ADEA Academic Dental Career Fellowship Program Faculty Liaison.

Dr. Ontiveros is a Professor in the Biomaterials Division of the Houston Center for Biomaterials and Biomimetics at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. He received his D.D.S. degree from the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry where he taught in the Division of Esthetic Dentistry. He received his Master of Oral Biomaterials from the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Science at Houston.

Dr. Ontiveros has authored numerous publications related to esthetic biomaterials and is contributed to multiple textbooks such as Esthetic Color Training in Dentistry, Tooth Whitening Techniques and most recently, Studevant’s Art & Science of Operative Dentistry. Currently,

Dr. Ontiveros is the John M. Powers, Endowed Professor in Oral Biomaterials and teaches Esthetic Dentistry and Oral Biomaterials at the undergraduate and graduate level. Dr. Ontiveros is a Fellow of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and a Fellow of the Society for Color and Appearance.

Dr. Premaraj is an Associate Professor and the Program Director of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry (UNMC COD). She received her dental training in Sri Lanka. She then received her Ph.D. in Japan and her postdoctoral training in Bacterial Genetics and Molecular Biology at The Ohio State University before she completed her orthodontic training in UNMC COD. She joined UNMC COD as an Assistant Professor and became an Associate Professor while serving at UNMC.

She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. She served as Course Director for predoctoral and postdoctoral orthodontic courses in addition to being an instructor on graduate level orthodontic courses and seminars at UNMC COD. Dr. Premaraj was actively involved in resident clinic supervision at UNMC and maintained an active faculty practice before joining the Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Premaraj is the current Chair-elect of the ADEA-Section on Orthodontics and a member in ADEA PASS Advisory Committee. In addition, she was elected as a Director for International Association of Dental Research Craniofacial Biology Group to serve from July 2020 – July 2023.

Dr. Sabato is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Track, in the Department of Community Health and Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, School of Dental Medicine (RSDM). She obtained her M.S.Ed. and Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Sabato joined RSDM in 2011 as a Registrar. She has previously held the position of Director of Institutional Assessment and Quality Improvement. In her role as Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sabato oversees the management and implementation of the predoctoral curriculum, serves on the Curriculum Committee and works closely with the Vice Dean to assist in the ongoing management of RSDM’s extensive interprofessional education curriculum. Dr. Sabato also works collaboratively with the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Diversity and Inclusion to promote student success. Dr. Sabato recently served as Co-Chair for RSDM’s Predoctoral and Postgraduate Accreditation Committees.

Dr. Sabato has been a Liaison to the ADEA Commission on Change and Innovation since 2015 and has served as an Officer for the ADEA Academic Affairs section. Dr. Sabato has recently published several papers in the Journal of Dental Education on topics related to interprofessional education and student success.

Dr. Sadid-Zadeh is Associate Professor, Assistant Dean of Digital Technologies and Assistant Program Director at the post-graduate prosthodontics program at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where his academic interests include integrating digital technology in the dental curriculum, teaching, performing research and providing patient care.

Dr. Sadid worked in private practice for seven years before pursuing a master’s degree in Dental Materials, a Certificate in Prosthodontics and a fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry.

Dr. Sadid was recognized at 2019 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition by receiving Olav Alvares Award for Published Outstanding Articles in the Journal of Dental Education. He has also been nominated for Claude R. Baker Award to be announced in the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics 2021 Annual Session. Moreover, he is an ADEA Emerging Academic Leaders Program Fellow.

Dr. Sadid serves at the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) as Vice-chair of Predoctoral Education and leader/member of digital curriculum development and the Poster Session Chair and Board Director at the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics. Also, he maintains an active practice dedicated to Prosthodontics and Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the Roswell Cancer Center.

Dr. Shanti is an Oral, Maxillofacial and Head and Neck Surgeon at the University of Pennsylvania where he currently serves as the Vice Chair of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity within the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and also serves as the Associate Director of the Head and Neck Cancer Service Line at the Abramson Cancer Center/Penn Medicine. He maintains a busy clinical practice that is devoted to the surgical management of benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck as well as the reconstruction of the face, head and neck following oncologic surgery, radiation injury and trauma.

Dr. Shanti earned his D.M.D. from Harvard School of Dental Medicine and his M.D. from New Jersey Medical School. He completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Hospital/Rutgers University in Newark, N.J. He completed a two-year research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, which was sponsored by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute as well as a two-year fellowship in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction at Louisiana State University.

An active researcher, Dr. Shanti investigational work on odontogenic tumors, oral oncology, deep neck infections, reconstructive surgery and regenerative medicine.

Dr. Smith is the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Director of Ethics Curriculum and Assistant Professor in the Department of General Practice at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry (VCU SOD). He earned his D.D.S. from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School and Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University.

A graduate of the AAL’s Institute for Teaching & Learning and the American Dental Association’s Institute for Diversity in Leadership, Dr. Smith serves as Chair of the ADEA Special Interest Group on Professional, Ethical and Legal Issues and is an appointee to the ADEA Collaborative on Dental Education Climate Assessment. He also serves as a liaison to the ADEA Commission on Change & Innovation in Dental Education. He serves as Co-Advisor of the VCU COD’s Student National Dental Association Chapter and maintains a private practice within the Dental Faculty Practice. He is a member of the National Dental Association, the ADA and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Society for Dental Ethics and the Virginia Dental Association Foundation.

Dr. Smith is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists. His research interests include resilience, inclusive excellence in dental education, dental ethics and professionalism.

Dr. Squarize is a tenured Associate Professor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry (U-M SOD). She is a Clinician-Scientist and Principal Investigator of the Epithelial Biology Lab at the U-M and has published extensively. She is a Course Director in educational courses in the area of Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine.

Dr. Squarize earned a D.D.S. degree followed by a master’s degree and Ph.D. in Oral Pathology from the University of São Paulo. She was awarded a fellowship from the National Institutes of Health to study stem cell and epithelial biology, along with oral and pharyngeal cancer at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.

Dr. Squarize received the Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Award and the prestigious Edward Hatton Award from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) for her head and neck cancer research. She is a member of several organizations and committees, including the IADR and the American Association for Dental Research (AADR). She served as President of the AADR Michigan Chapter, an AADR Voting Councilor, a member of the U-M Medicine Rogel Cancer Center and a Division Leader on the U-M SOD Global Initiative.

Dr. Tadinada is an Associate Professor with tenure in the section of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine (UConn SDM). He currently serves as the Associate Dean for Graduate Research, Education and Training and is also the program director for Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. He also directs the student research program at UConn SDM. Dr. Tadinada teaches extensively in the predoctoral and postgraduate curricula of the medical and dental schools and teaches Radiation Physics and Scientific Writing to graduate students. He also maintains a busy faculty practice with a focus on 3-D imaging.

Dr. Tadinada has been either the Principal Investigator or a Co-Investigator in several National Institutes of Health, foundation and industry grants involving osteoporosis and dental implants. He has been published extensively in major journals and received national coverage for his work on Botox and osteoporosis.

Dr. Tadinada is the Chair of the Electronic and Publication committee of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. He is on the Editorial Board of the scientific journals, Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Oral Radiology. He is also on the Board of Governors of the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA) and serves as the CSDA Editor-in-Chief.

Dr. Touloumi is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Reconstructive Sciences in the Division of Prosthodontics at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine (UConn SDM). She currently teaches in the predoctoral and postdoctoral level.

Dr. Touloumi received her D.D.S. from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. After practicing as a general dentist, she pursued specialty training in Prosthodontics at UConn SDM. She graduated in 2014 with a Certificate in Prosthodontics, a Master in Dental Science and a Certificate in Surgical Implant Placement.

Dr.Touloumi has been involved in dental education since 2014. She has directed multiple courses related to Prosthodontics, served as Director of a predoctoral clinic and has taught both in preclinical and clinical level. She became board certified in 2015 and she is a member of multiple professional organizations.

Dr. Vardar-Sengul has been serving as the Chair of Department of Periodontology at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine (NSU CDM) since August 2019. She finished dental school and Periodontology certificate program with a Ph.D. in Turkey. In 2010, she graduated from Periodontology Program at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Vardar-Sengul has worked as full-time faculty in the Department of Periodontology at NSU CDM, both in predoctoral and postgraduate periodontics, for several years. She is a Diplomate of American Board of Periodontology and practices as a part-time Periodontist. Dr. Vardar-Sengul has mentored several master's degree students on their research projects and published extensively, mainly on host modulation and pathogenesis of periodontitis. She is a certified Yoga and Meditation Instructor, a Functional Medicine Practitioner and a Certified Homeopath. She combines these techniques in her teachings and practice.

Dr. Walinski is an Associate Professor in the Department of Dental Medicine at the Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College (TCDM at NYMC.) He serves as the Director of Laser Dentistry and is the Laser Safety Officer for TCDM at NYMC. In addition to his clinical duties, he also lectures and leads lab exercises in the preclinical simulation lab in Fixed Prosthodontics and Esthetic Dentistry. Dr. Walinski earned his D.D.S. from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1989 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Education at California Coast University.

Dr. Walinski lectures and conducts research in restorative and esthetic dentistry and dental laser applications. He has served as the Executive Director for the World Clinical Laser Institute since 2010 and is a Fellow of both the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Dentistry and the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry.

Dr. Walinski is a Past-president and Diplomate of the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry. He is especially proud of his induction into the International College of Dentists in December 2020.
