ADEA Leadership Institute Class of 2022  | Dr. Yura Godwin has a Doctorate of Dental Surgery and is a Masters of Health Care Administration candidate with an expected graduation date in August 2021. She is Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry, Director of the Biddington Center for Dental Innovation and Director of the Dental Group Faculty Practice at West Virginia University School of Dentistry (WVU SOD). Currently, Dr. Yura Godwin is Course Director for two courses at WVU SOD, Interprofessional Education and Introduction to Clinic. As Director of the Biddington Center for Dental Innovation, she created the model, curriculum and schedules for second-year, third-year and fourth-year students. Dr. Yura Godwin provides all the training in the Center and creates the material, equipment and technology requests. As Director of Faculty Practice, Dr. Yura Godwin is the contact person between clinical administration and the staff and faculty providing care in the dental group faculty practice. She has staff team huddle sessions and aids in providing support to all stakeholders involved in the faculty practice.
She received the Faculty of the Year Award in 2020, the Pierre Fauchard Academy Special Award Recipient Award in 2018 and the Co-Faculty of the Year Award in 2018. In 2018, Dr. Yura Godwin’s paper “Center for Research and Education in Technology (CRET) Opens Third Innovation Center at West Virginia University School of Dentistry: A Review of the West Virginia University School of Dentistry and Dr. W. Robert Biddington Center for Dental Innovation,” appeared in the journal, Dental Hypotheses.
