Although we share similar goals as pre dental students, we come from diverse backgrounds & a variety of interests. As a current public health student at UNC, let me tell you why it should be an integral part of every current and future dentist’s career.

I never considered a career working in public health.  When I was in dental school I always imagined hanging a shingle and starting up a small town dental practice. Maybe you can relate to those dreams?

Oral Health is very important though often overlooked. Most people take for granted the health and development of their mouth and teeth, however it’s been made evident that these two are as important as any other part of the body.

Founded in 1937, the American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD) provides a focus for meeting the challenge to improve oral health. AAPHD membership is open to all individuals concerned with improving the oral health of the public.
