The Power of Broadened Perspectives: Recruiting and Retaining Diverse Faculty in Dental Education
October 24, 2018
The 2018 ADEA Diversity Workshop focused on fostering faculty diversity as a means of broadening perspectives within dental education. Effectively facilitating “an environment characterized by, and supportive of, diversity and inclusion” involves more than promoting and supporting diversity activities—it requires effective leadership and careful development of a deliberate, collaborative and sustainable diversity plan. The small group workshop format afforded the unique opportunity for quality discussion, sharing and support of deliberate and collaborative planning and the exchange of ideas among participants and presenters.

Advancing a Diverse Student and Faculty Pipeline
October 26, 2016
This event took place October 26, 2016 in Houston – one day prior to the ADEA Fall Meetings. Advancing a Diverse
Student and Faculty Pipeline helped attendees better understand the factors that can influence the recruitment of diverse students and faculty. It featured promising practices from dental educators with a track record of creating sustained model diversity programs. Through interactive discussions
and working group sessions, participants left with practice strategies they could implement when they returned to their home institutions.
Setting the
Standard for Diversity in Accreditation
October 28, 2015
The first in the series of ADEA Diversity Workshops, this workshop was a one-day “crash course” for understanding the scope of the diversity-related CODA Standards and developing a mission-driven diversity plan for your institution. Participants in the workshop learned
from the perspectives and innovative, evidence-based approaches of current and former dental educators with a track record of creating sustained model diversity programs.
