Disruption: Implications for the Oral Health Education
The ADEA Deans’ Conference is one of ADEA’s flagship leadership meetings at which the dental school deans and executive leaders gather to discuss critical issues facing the dental education community. This year’s conference is supported in part by the
ADEA Corporate Council
in tribute to the late Henry Gremillion, D.D.S., MAGD.
The Deans' Conference is by invitation only.
The registration fee for this conference is complimentary for members.
You can join or renew your ADEA membership online at adea.org/join.
(Through Thursday, Oct. 29)
- Session one on Nov. 6 will kick off with a keynote presentation titled “Preparing Students for the Future of Health” by Dr. Abbas Hyderi, Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education at the new Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. This session will be followed by another keynote titled “What’s Next for Higher Education? A Conversation With Christopher Callahan, President, University of the Pacific.” Participants will then break into discussion groups to talk about the key issues from the two presentations. The session will end with brief reports to the full group. Input will be diverse, from deans, ADEA Corporate Council representatives, and the ADEA Board of Directors.
- After a week of continued engagement through ADEA Connect, session two on Nov. 13, “Critical Issues Facing the Future of Dental Education,” will feature a series of TED-style talks and workgroup discussions on critical issues facing dental schools that
were identified by the Council of Deans during the Townhalls this summer. The session will end with a Keynote addressing racial equity in dental education. Session input will again be diverse, from deans, ADEA Corporate Council representatives, and the ADEA Board of Directors.
- The third, and final, session on Nov. 20 will be limited to participation by deans and the ADEA Board of Directors. Session three will include a panel discussion with the working group leaders with an opportunity for Q&A through a chat feature. Session three wraps up with an ADEA Council of Deans Business Meeting, during which next steps will be discussed to keep this collaborative discussion going through the 2021 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition.
