Anas “Andy” Shallal is an
Iraqi-American activist, artist and social entrepreneur. He is founder and
proprietor of Busboys and Poets, a Washington, DC-based restaurant, bookstore
and gathering center for activists that features prominent speakers and authors
and provides a venue where art, culture and politics intentionally collide. He
sits on several arts and philanthropic boards and has been a featured speaker
at conferences and panels addressing political as well as cultural issues
centered around race and inclusion. He has appeared on major television and
radio shows and has been published in various newspapers and journals.
