The University of Southern Indiana (USI) dental assisting and dental hygiene students went to the Tri-State Food Bank in Evansville, Ind., to support seniors in their local community. Students completed pre-service learning activities focused on understanding food insecurity and the impact it has on the community.

The first shift of students put together for seniors 120 boxed meals and 810 grocery bags. The second shift produced for seniors 270 boxed meals and 760 grocery bags. In total, USI students prepared for seniors almost 400 boxed meals and over 1,500 grocery bags.

Thanks to the group, the food bank will be able to make their Thursday deadline for senior grocery deliveries. It also means the students helped feed 1,910 low-income elderly people.

Great work!
