With support from Hubert K. Chan, D.D.S., Assistant Dean for Clinical Education/Associate Professor at the Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine, ADEA is calling on the ADEA Council of Students, Residents and Fellows (ADEA COSRF) to report highlights of the 2018 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition as they happen. The new Social Media Squad (SMS) is comprised of ADEA COSRF members who will share real-time meeting highlights and encourage communication and collaboration among Annual Session attendees. With the assistance of their faculty mentor, Dr. Chan, and ADEA’s Membership team, this new group will enrich and expand the conference experience.

Dr. Chan, an active user of social media, is a natural advocate. “I am very excited to work with ADEA and the ADEA COSRF to promote the association’s social media presence as The Voice of Dental Education,” he says. “Futurists forecast social media as a large new market by 2030. Member engagement within the dental education community and across the health professions helps ADEA to achieve its vital purpose. Join us to help attendees discuss and connect with the best sessions and places to be at Vision 2030: The 2018 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition (#ADEA2018).”

ADEA COSRF students will build conversations around Vision 2030, amplifying ADEA’s presence on Facebook and Twitter and capturing and sharing subject matter experts’ ideas to support ADEA members’ efforts to become future-ready. In the spirit of looking forward to the next generation, the students will tap two platforms new to ADEA to reach attendees—Instagram and Snapchat.

Members of the SMS will be easily identifiable in their branded shirts. Stop and chat if you see them around the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center. If you have an event highlight you want the SMS to share, tell them!

Don’t forget to monitor #ADEA2018 to see what the SMS is up to in Orlando and engage with your fellow attendees to plan for the future of academic dentistry.
