Interim Dean Named at MOSDOH as Dr. Chris Halliday Announces Retirement

Christopher G. Halliday, D.D.S., M.P.H., Dean of the Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (MOSDOH), has announced his retirement, effective at the end of June 2016. Dr. Halliday has spent nearly four years with the MOSDOH and is the Inaugural Dean.Dr. Halliday

“It’s been a great experience. I’ve worked with a great team, a lot of great people,” Dr. Halliday says. “We created a great school with a really great faculty, a great staff and great students.”

Dr. Halliday is proud of MOSDOH’s achievements of during its first four years and he’s looking forward to spending time with family and friends in retirement.

Dr. Halliday received a D.D.S. from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1987 and an M.P.H. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health in 2012. Before coming to MOSDOH, Dr. Halliday served as Assistant Surgeon General and Chief of Staff to the U.S. Surgeon General from December 2008 to May 2012.

MOSDOH introduced Don Altman, D.D.S., D.H.Sc., M.P.H., M.B.A., M.A., currently the Dean of the College of Graduate Health Studies, as Interim Dean effective May 10. Dr. Altman’s career includes more than 30 years of public health and community health center experience. He joined A.T. Still University (ATSU) in 2006 and has since served as Chair of the Master of Public Health—Dental Emphasis program and as Director of Public Health with ATSU’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health.
