Dr. Luciana Shaddox and Dr. Melvyn Yeoh Take on New Positions at UKCD

Two University of Kentucky College of Dentistry (UKCD) faculty have been named to new positions this summer. UKCD named Luciana Shaddox, D.M.D., M.D., Ph.D., as Associate Dean for Research, and Melvyn Yeoh, D.M.D., M.D., FACS, was appointed Chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Shaddox will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to help develop and facilitate new research and new research collaborative teams within and outside UKCD. She will continue her role as a professor in the Division of Periodontology at UKCD, as well as her own research. Dr. Shaddox obtained her degrees at the University of Campinas, Brazil, with part of her Ph.D. being developed in conjunction with the Department of Oral Biology at University of Florida College of Dentistry.

Dr. Yeoh joined the UKCD faculty in 2016 as an Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery after serving as Assistant Professor and Residency Program Director in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for four years at Louisiana State University Health New Orleans School of Dentistry. Dr. Yeoh received his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is an examiner on the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He also serves as Elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Kentucky State Oral and Maxillofacial Society
