This past summer, Gary J. Wright, D.D.S., FAGD, fulfilled a career goal to
become a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry (FACD). This is a
designation that only 7% of general dentists in Texas achieve during
their careers. A graduate of the University of Texas School of Dentistry at
Houston, he owned a private dental practice in Austin for 20 years before
deciding to go into academic dentistry.
Dr. Wright is currently a
member of the faculty at Austin Community College. He is the Dental Consultant
for the Department of Dental Hygiene and Course Director for Radiology, Anatomy
and Dental Materials. He also is a guest lecturer on local anesthesia and
performs diode laser training for students and faculty. In addition, he serves
as the Radiation Safety Officer and the ECC/AED Officer. Dr. Wright cites his
career at Austin Community College as his inspiration to complete the extensive
requirements to become an FACD.
