Dr. David Lam Named Inaugural Associate Dean for Medical Integration at the Dugoni School of Dentistry

The University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry has named David Lam, M.D., D.D.S., Ph.D., FRCDC, as its inaugural Associate Dean for Medical Integration.

Dr. Lam will hold this new role in addition to his positions as Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dr. T. Galt and Lee DeHaven Atwood Endowed Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

The principal responsibility of the Associate Dean for Medical Integration is to provide leadership and oversee the Dugoni School’s interactions and help solidify the school’s relationships with California Pacific Medical Center, Stanford Medical Center, San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and other affiliated hospitals. Dr. Lam will support existing programs, the development of unique clinical programs with hospital affiliation, and continued advancement of dental student and resident/fellow education and training. This role will also help the Dugoni School establish a strategy and vision for the future of medical integration and related hospital-based clinical care, research and education. One area of focus will be the coordination of activity between Pacific and potential future Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs, such as the OMS Internship, General Practice Residency, Pediatric Dentistry and a Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Lam will work closely with Paul Subar, D.D.S., Ed.D., and Allen Wong, D.D.S., Ed.D., both of whom have been leaders in hospital and clinical relationships in the region. They will continue to remain involved in these partnerships.

Dr. Lam earned both his D.D.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Toronto. He went on to serve as a Postdoctoral Scholar and Surgical Fellow in Maxillofacial Oncology at University of California, San Francisco Medical Center. Dr. Lam earned his M.D. degree from University of California, Davis and gained his OMFS Specialty Certificate from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
