In October, President Trump declared
the opioid crisis to be a national public health crisis. Attorney General Jeff
Sessions announced on Nov. 29 that Presidential Advisor
Kellyanne Conway would oversee White House efforts to combat the opioid
overdose epidemic.
This comes at a time when many
stakeholders are looking for the President to name someone to head the Office
of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and request funding from Congress to fill the depleted national public
health emergency fund to pay for the health emergency declaration.
