Oklahoma Governor Signs Bill Making Changes to Medical Education Residency Programs

GMEGroupOn May 17, Gov. Mary Fallin (R-OK) signed into law SB 816. The new law directs medical education residency programs to give priority to in-state students with good academic standing when assigning clinical rotations at a health care facility that accepts state funding. Under the law, in-state resident is defined as an individual who resided in the state at the time of graduation from an Oklahoma high school.
