Minnesota seeks to establish the Smile Healthy Minnesota 2016 grant
program through companion bills SF 866 and HB 972. The program seeks to
provide access to dental care for at-risk children, adolescents, adults and
seniors in rural areas of Minnesota. The bill would appropriate $1 million over
the biennium to fund the grants.
The grants will be available to nonprofit organizations with fewer than
20 employees providing mobile dental care services to rural, at-risk areas of
Minnesota. Both bills have passed their respective health committees and are
currently in finance committees for consideration.
