New Rules in Texas
A series of new
rules from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners came into
effect in mid-May. Amended rule §101.5 changes the dental license renewal cycle
to a two-year period, Rule §101.13 provides for a limited volunteer dental
license for current and former military members, and Rule §101.2 requires that
all dental exam takers after January 1, 2019, must successfully complete the
periodontics and prosthodontics sections of their chosen exam.
Faculty Licenses in
Nebraska
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services
proposed new
regulations creating dental faculty licenses for any dentist
licensed within five years of accepting a full-time faculty position at an institution
of dental education in the state.
Licensure by
Endorsement for Canadians in New York
The New York State Education Department finalized new
rules (see page 19) permitting dentists with licenses issued by a
Canadian province to become licensed dentists in New York by endorsement. Canadian
dentists need only to prove their licensure and pay the licensing fee to practice
in New York.
