CampusCarryOn March 22, Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) signed into law HB 1249. Under the new law, concealed-carry permit holders who complete up to eight hours of additional training—as determined by the Arkansas State Police—to earn an enhanced permit will be allowed to carry weapons on a university, college or community college campus.

The law takes effect on Sept. 1. Private higher education institutions may opt out of the requirement.
