On May 12, Gov. Doug Ducey (R-AZ) approved the budget
for FY18 and restored emergency dental benefits to adults in the state’s
Medicaid program. The adult dental benefit was eliminated from the Arizona
Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) during the Great Recession of
2008. Specifically, SB 1527 provides that adults
age 21 years and older enrolled in Medicaid will be entitled to
emergency dental care and extractions costing up to $1,000.
On May 22, Gov. Ducey
signed into law HB 2547. The new law enables
approximately $1 billion in new investments to be directed toward research and
development infrastructure at Arizona State University, the University of Arizona
and Northern Arizona University.
