DiceNational Portability of Dental Hygiene Licensure Under Review

Dental hygiene has been identified by the Occupational Licensing Research Consortium as one of the 34 occupations whose licensing requirements will be evaluated. The Consortium held its first meeting on Dec. 4–6 in Arizona. The Occupational Licensing Research Consortium consists of members from the National Conference of State Legislatures, National Governors Association and Council of State Governments. The Consortium has launched a three-year project entitled Occupational Licensing: Assessing State Policy and Practice with the goal of enhancing the portability of occupational licenses.

The research of the Consortium will result in the National Occupational Licensing Report, which will help inform the work of the project and broaden understanding of the barriers, challenges and opportunities related to occupational licensing.
