Research—From the Ground Up
Dr. Eugene L. Anderson, ADEA Chief Policy Officer and Managing Vice President

In this issue of the Liaison Ledger, we’ve deviated a bit from our usual format to allow two educators, Sharon Gordon of East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine and Bradley Henson of Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine, to share their perspectives on the challenges associated with building a research enterprise from the ground up. In question and answer sessions with the Ledger, they reveal the strategies they have employed at two recently established dental schools that view research as an essential and valued component of dental education.

Today, Drs. Gordon and Henson stand on the front lines of launching a new generation of dental school research programs, and they are eager to enter into dialog with other ADEA members about ways the dental education community can strengthen research across all our institutions. Please use the comment feature at the bottom of each article to respond to their observations and continue the conversation with other ADEA CCI Liaisons.
