ADEA Scholarships, Awards, and Fellowships
ADEA recognizes achievement and distinction among its members through an awards program. Among the awards offered in conjunction with ADEA's corporate partners are student scholarships, awards for educators, and funding opportunities for various fellowships.
Each year in the fall ADEA opens award nominations. Self nominations from individual members are accepted for many. Awards range from $1,000 scholarships to $15,000 in support of leadership development education or $15,000 stipends to pursue three-month fellowships in Washington, DC.
ADEA Member Institutions are also eligible for significant monetary recognition for research and work with new procedures.
Also, through the ADEAGies Foundation ADEA provides financial support for dental education, research, and leadership. The Foundation confers the annual Gies Awards, bringing recognition to outstanding individuals and institutional leaders in global oral health and oral health education.
Please note that applications for awards will not be accepted once a deadline has passed.
2013 award recipients were recognized at the 2013 ADEA Annual Session and Exhibition in Seattle, Washington 16-19, 2013.

ADEA/Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Preventive Dentistry Scholarships - Twelve $2,500 scholarships for predoctoral students who have demonstrated excellence in preventive dentistry.
ADEA/Crest Oral-B Laboratories Scholarship for Dental Hygiene Students Pursuing Academic Careers - Two $2,000 scholarships for dental hygiene students pursuing academic careers.
ADEA/Sigma Phi Alpha Linda DeVore Scholarship - A $1,000 scholarship recognizing an individual studying allied dental education at the baccalaureate, master's, or doctoral degree level.
ADEA/Crest Oral-B Laboratories Scholarship for Predoctoral Dental Students Pursuing Academic Careers - Two $5,000 scholarships for dental students who plan education beyond a doctoral degree and who have an interest in academic careers.

ADEA/Colgate-Palmolive Co. Allied Dental Educators Fellowship - A $4,000 stipend for participation in the ADEA Leadership Institute or to pursue a three-month Fellowship at the ADEA office in Washington, DC.

ADEA/Colgate-Palmolive Co. Excellence in Teaching Award - A $2,500 award to enhance teaching efforts to an educator who demonstrates exemplary standards and promotes excellence through scholarship and innovation.
ADEA/Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products/Enid A. Neidle Scholar-in-Residence Program for Women - A $6,000 stipend to pursue a cumulative three-month fellowship at the ADEA office in Washington, DC, researching issues affecting women faculty.

ADEA/ADEA Council of Students/Colgate-Palmolive Co. Junior Faculty Award - A $2,500 award to be used to enhance teaching, research, or service efforts.
ADEA/Alpha Omega Foundation/Leonard Abrams Scholar in the ADEA Leadership Institute - A $20,000 scholarship to provide the opportunity for a dental educator who exhibits excellence in teaching and compassion toward fellow human beings and who upholds exemplary ethical and professional standards to participate in the ADEA Leadership Institute.
ADEA/Colgate-Palmolive Co./National Dental Association Jeanne C. Sinkford Scholarship - A $15,000 scholarship to provide the opportunity for a dental educator who is closely aligned with the promotion of equity and diversity to participate in the ADEA Leadership Institute.
ADEA/Sunstar Americas, Inc./Harry W. Bruce, Jr. Legislative Fellowship - A $15,000 stipend to pursue a cumulative three-month fellowship at the ADEA office in Washington, DC, working on issues related to the legislative agenda.
ADEA/William J. Gies Foundation Education Fellowship - A $10,000 stipend to pursue a cumulative three-month fellowship at the ADEA office in Washington, DC, researching educational issues facing dental education.
ADEA/American Association of Endodontists Foundation Scholar in the ADEA Leadership Institute - A $25,000 scholarship for an endodontic educator to participate in the ADEA Leadership Institute.
ADEA/Zimmer Dental Implant Education Teaching Award - An award of $25,000 to an institution and dental educator team that has demonstrated a commitment to excellence and innovation in the field of implant dentistry education.

ADEA/William J. Gies Foundation Dental Research Scholarship - This program provides $35,000 to the institution over a four-year period to identify students who may have a unique interest or predental experience that might lead to a career in dental research (offered every other year).
