ADEA/Crest Oral-B Scholarships for Dental Hygiene Students Pursuing Academic Careers


Purpose

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and The Procter & Gamble Company announce the ADEA/Crest Oral-B Scholarships for Dental Hygiene Students Pursuing Academic Careers. These scholarships support dental hygiene students who are pursuing education beyond an associate degree and who have an interest in academic careers.


Overview

Each year, two dental hygiene students receive the ADEA/Crest Oral-B Scholarship for Dental Hygiene Students Pursuing Academic Careers. Each scholarship recipient receives $3,000 to be applied as follows:

  • $2,000 for tuition and fees.
  • $500 to subsidize travel to the 2018 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition in Orlando, FL, March 17–20, 2018.
  • $500 to subsidize travel to visit the Procter & Gamble Research Center in Mason, OH.


Eligibility Requirements

An applicant must:

  • Be enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program or graduate degree program in dental hygiene at an ADEA Member Institution.
  • Show a commitment to pursuing an academic career in dental hygiene.
  • Be an ADEA Individual Member.

Both part-time and full-time students are eligible. 

 

Application Process Checklist
The following items must be submitted by November 1, 2017, using the ADEA online application process:

  • Transcripts obtained for the candidate’s school registrar verifying academic standing.
  • A personal statement from the candidate detailing his or her experiences, influences and decision-making that demonstrate a firm commitment to becoming an allied dental faculty member.
  • Individual letters of nomination and evaluation from two faculty members that address the candidate’s career goals.
  • A letter of recommendation from the student’s dean, dental hygiene director or equivalent.

Notification Date  
Scholarship recipients and applicants not receiving awards will be notified by February 1, 2018.
