2012 ADEAGies Foundation/AADR Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program (ADCFP)

The ADEAGies Foundation/AADR Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program (ADEAGies/AADR ADCFP) provides dental and allied dental students at U.S. and Canadian institutions with an opportunity to experience the benefits and rewards of teaching and an academic career. The program encourages and prepares students to enter academic dentistry through:

  • Seminars at ADEA Annual Sessions & Exhibitions aimed at identifying dental and allied dental students interested in pursuing academic careers
  • The selection of 10 students each year for a year-long fellowship experience about academic dental careers
  • Mentor training and support programs utilizing dental school faculty
  • Expansion of the program to include additional fellows and mentors sponsored by their dental school deans

Read more about program goals.

The deadline for 2012 applications will be December 14, 2011.

Each ADCFP Fellow and his or her mentor will attend a Fellow/Mentor training session at the 2012 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition on March 20 and 21. Each Fellow will present a poster and participate in a seminar at the 2013 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition in Seattle, Washington.

The Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program (ADCFP) began in 2006 with a grant of $100,000 from the American Dental Association Foundation. At the  52nd Annual ADEA Deans’ Conference, deans asked for and were granted the ability to sponsor ADEAGies/AADR ADCFP Fellows and Mentors in addition to the 10 supported through ADEA. The supporting amount is $2,500 per Fellow, provided by the dean.
