ADEA Advocacy Events in Washington, DC

AADR-ADEA Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill

Held the third week of April each year, this event educates participants on timely public policy. On the first day of this two-day event, participants hear presentations by Washington policy experts. Afterwards, participants are briefed by the ADEA Center for Public Policy and Advocacy on timely legislation. The following day, participants visit their elected officials on Capitol Hill to advocate for issues of importance to academic dentistry.

ADEA Leadership Institute Legislative Workshop

This one-day workshop in Phase II of the ADEA Leadership Institute provides advocacy training to familiarize future leaders with the legislative and executive branches of government. Since the program’s inception, fellows have been a successful force in promoting ADEA’s legislative agenda. They have participated in more than 300 meetings with Federal legislators or their staff on legislative priorities.

National Dental Student Lobby Day

For a decade now, the ADEA/ASDA National Dental Student Lobby Day on Capitol Hill has been held annually. It has grown to include more than 300 students from dental schools across the country. Students learn about the importance of advocacy from presentations by Members of Congress and staff of the ADEA Center for Public Policy and Advocacy and the American Dental Association.
