Recently dental education has undergone "game changing" events that will compel innovation, many initiated by the ADEA Commission on Change and Innovation in Dental Education (ADEA CCI). Among them are the revised Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) Standards for Dental Education Programs and the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) plans to develop a single, integrated National Board Dental Examination Part I and Part II.
It is critical for academic dental institutions to begin preparing for these and other changes now. Part of this preparation will require development of a core group of faculty leaders who can facilitate change in challenging areas such as diversity, community-based education, interprofessional education, and development of integrated curricula. In light of current economic constraints, it may also be essential for these leaders to promote shared resources supporting faculty-initiated curricular change.
This meeting will focus on these and other areas of importance to the future of dental education through plenary sessions, facilitated small-group discussions, networking sessions, and open "white" space - all providing time for sharing knowledge, raising questions, and offering solutions in preparation for national "game changers."

The ADEA CCI Oversight Committee Meeting begins Wednesday, June 29, at 3:00 p.m. and concludes Thursday, June 30, at 1:00 p.m.
