About ADEA PASS
Q: What is the American Dental
Education Association (ADEA)?
A: ADEA is the leading national organization for
dental education. Our members include all U.S. and Canadian dental
schools as well as hospitals and advanced dental education
programs; allied dental education programs; dentistry-related
companies; faculty; dental students; and dental residents.
Q: What is the ADEA Postdoctoral
Application Support Service (ADEA PASS)?
A: ADEA PASS is a centralized application service
for 600 participating advanced dental education programs. This
service is available to anyone applying to participating advanced
dental education programs. ADEA PASS simplifies the application
process by providing one standardized format, relieving applicants
of the need to complete multiple applications. ADEA PASS serves
only as an information clearinghouse and does not influence
programs' appraisal or selection of applicants. Each advanced
dental education program has the right to request supplemental
information from applicants.
Q: What is the Postdoctoral Dental
Matching Program (Match)?
A: Please go to www.natmatch.com/dentres
for information about the Dental Match. Registration for the Dental
Match takes place inside the ADEA PASS application site; Dental
Match registrants are not required to complete an ADEA PASS
application if they are not utilizing the application service to
apply to advanced dental education programs.

Q: How can I contact ADEA
A: Customer Service is available via e mail: firstname.lastname@example.org and

Q: What browser should I use, and
what are the technical specifications concerning viewing and
completing the online application?
A: BROWSER REQUIREMENTS: For the optimal browsing
of the site, use Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or a later
release. You may also use Firefox 3.x (or higher), Chrome, or

application last year. Can that application be used for this

years cannot be reactivated. Therefore, you must submit all new
application materials on the appropriate forms for the current

A: Go to the ADEA PASS website, click on the
link for applicants in the left hand panel, and follow the link to
the application. You can also directly access your ADEA PASS
application by going to portal.passweb.org.
Q: What are the processing
A: The base processing fee for the first program
(including one essay) is $190, and each additional program is $72.
Secure payment by credit card within your application at the
time you submit it is preferred. Alternatively, ADEA PASS will
accept a money order for the required fee. Note: there will be a
delay in processing and sending your application to programs until
your money order payment has been processed. Money orders must made
payable to ADEA PASS and mailed to:

Q: I forgot my username and
password - how can I obtain them again?
A: To obtain your password, go to the ADEA PASS website, click
"Applicants" in the left hand panel, and follow the link to the
application. Click the "Forgot Your Password?" link and follow the
instructions on the screen.
Q: Is the ADEA PASS site secure
enough to use my credit card number?
A: Yes, it is secure. The use of the latest technology
ensures that your application experience will be safe and secure.
We encrypt your personal information, including your name, address,
and credit card number, when transmitting over the Internet using
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) security software. You may notice
"https:" in the address bar or an unbroken key or a closed lock at
the bottom of the page when you enter our payment page. This means
that your browser has opened a secure connection with our site. You
can also check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When
accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site address
will change from "http" to "https."
Q: How do I register for the
A: Applicants seeking postdoctoral positions that utilize
the Dental Match must register for this service within the ADEA
PASS applicant portal.You can register for the Dental Match when
you first create your account.You do not have to participate in the
ADEA PASS application cycle to register for the Dental
Match; however, you will need to create an account, register for
the Dental Match, and submit your Dental Match registration payment

A: Applicants who have registered only for the Dental
Match in the ADEA PASS applicant portal will have to contact the National Matching Service, Inc. for all

Q: What is a Standard ADEA PASS
A: A standard application is one that allows the
applicant to submit one essay, dental school transcript(s),
Institution Evaluation Form, an ETS PPI Report, and up to two
Professional Evaluation Forms through ADEA PASS to all selected
advanced education programs.
Q: What is a Custom ADEA PASS
Application, and how can I submit one?
A: A custom application is one that allows the applicant
to designate different essays and Professional Evaluation Forms to

application and come back to it at a later date?
A: Yes. You are able to save the application and come
back later to complete it. You may log in and work on it as often
as you wish. Just be sure to remember your username and

process my ADEA PASS application?
A: ADEA PASS begins releasing completed applications to
your selected advanced education programs in June. Once you have
submitted your complete ADEA PASS application your selected
programs will have immediate access to your application. The
completion date will vary depending upon when your required
documents (e.g., dental school transcript) arrive in our office.
Once all required documents (ETS® PPI
report, Institution Evaluation,Dental School Transcript, and any
Professional Evaluations) have been received, your application will
be marked as complete. You will need to monitor the status of your
application to see which of these documents has been

Additional Program Designations
Q: How do I apply to more
programs after submitting my ADEA PASS application?
A: Log in to your ADEA PASS application and click on the
Program Designations link in your Application Checklist. You may
then add more programs by clicking the button. You will then need to assign an essay (and one or two
Professional Evaluations, if you are using them) to your additional
programs. Click the Pay Now button to submit your Additional
Q: How long does it take to
process an Additional Program Designation?
A: ADEA PASS processes Additional Program Designations as
promptly as possible. If an Additional Program Designation is
received prior to sending your ADEA PASS application to your
originally designated programs and prior to the program deadline,
and all Required Documents have been received by ADEA PASS, your
application will be delivered to the program by its application
