Re-applicant Questions

Q: I applied to ADEA AADSAS last year and would like to reapply. Can I carry over my information?

A: If your ADEA AADSAS application was MAILED to schools last cycle, you are eligible to have your application information imported to the new cycle. Please click the link "Re-applying to ADEA AADSAS" on the login page to proceed with creating a new account. DO NOT CLICK "CREATE NEW ACCOUNT" ON THE HOME PAGE.

Q: If I had an application last year but it wasn't mailed to dental schools, can I carry over any information?

A: ADEA AADSAS cannot carry over any applications that were not mailed last cycle. You will have to create a new account and resubmit all information.

Q: How do I have my data imported to my reapplicant account?

A: Once you click the Reapplicant link on the home page, you will be asked to provide your login information from last cycle. If you do not remember your login information, you will be asked to provide the e-mail address which you used to create last year's account to have an access code e-mailed to you. Once you have your code, you will need to click the link at the top of the re-applicant page to enter your re-applicant code. This will carry over your account information from your previous application. Once you have logged in, you will be prompted to enter new "create account" information, including your name, e-mail, and login information. When you click "create account" you will be taken to your NEW account, with all importable data from your prior account already in place.

Q: Do I have to create a new username and password?

A: Yes. You will need to create a new username and password for the current application cycle, although your login information can remain the same as used in the previous cycle. Please note that you will be assigned a new ADEA AADSAS ID# and the barcodes on your transcript and reference request forms will be new.

Q: I accidentally created a brand new account but I want to create a re-applicant account. What do I do?

A:
You can still create a re-applicant account; however, if you used the same e-mail address to sign up for your new account that you used last year you must change the e-mail in your new account to a fake address (such as email@email.com) before you attempt to create a re-applicant account. Once you create the re-applicant account, send us an e-mail with your ADEA AADSAS ID numbers for both accounts and indicate which account you would like closed so we can place the account you made by accident on hold.

Q: What information will be carried over?

A: Most application fields and verified transcripts (transcripts containing coursework calculated into your GPA last cycle by ADEA AADSAS) will be imported into the new application. Once the import is complete, IT IS THE APPLICANT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO GO OVER ALL IMPORTED INFORMATION AND ENSURE IT IS COMPLETE AND ACCURATE.

Q: What information will NOT be carried over?

A: Letters of evaluation, DAT scores, payments, and your personal statement will NOT be carried over and must be resubmitted. In addition, there are fields on the ADEA AADSAS application which have changed or been added since last cycle which will NOT be filled in by the import. Applicants must go over ALL sections of the application and ensure these new sections are filled in.It will not necessarily be readily apparent from your application checklist that something is missing if the field is not required.  DAT scores will carry over if you have previously had them sent to an ADEA AADSAS participating dental school since the 2010 application cycle, and your date of birth and DENTPIN as entered on the application match those being reported to ADEA AADSAS by the ADA.

Q: I am no longer in touch with my references. Can ADEA AADSAS carry over my letters of evaluation?

A: ADEA AADSAS does not carry over any of your letters of evaluation from the previous cycles. New letters must be submitted.

Q: My coursework information from last cycle is locked. How do I update it?

A: All imported information is locked so our staff knows what coursework we already verified from last year. If you need to add additional coursework for a school you had listed last year, you must add the school a second time in the institutions attended section and add the coursework under the second entry. This will also give you access to the transcript request form. You must then delete planned/in-progress work you had listed last cycle and renter these courses as completed.

Q:
Can I add new coursework to a previously listed college?

A: No. If you are a previously verified applicant and wish to enter additional coursework other than what is currently listed on your application, you must add the new institution in your "Colleges and Universities Attended" section, even if it is an institution already listed in your application. Once you enter the institution, you will then be able to add any coursework that has become complete since your application was verified during the previous cycle.

Q: Do I need to resend transcripts I had sent last year?

A:
Any coursework ADEA AADSAS verified (calculated into your GPA) last year does not require transcripts. However, you must submit a new transcript(s) for any coursework completed after you submitted your transcript(s) last cycle.

Q: I filled out an application with ADEA AADSAS application several years ago. Can I reactivate my information?

A:
No. You may only carry over application information from the previous cycle. ADEA AADSAS does not keep application information from earlier cycles.

Q: I applied to dental school last year. Are my chances better of being accepted this year?

A: Check with the dental schools to which you are applying. In most situations, simply re-applying does not increase your chances of being admitted. However, additional coursework completed and experiences gained may make you a more competitive applicant in a subsequent application cycle.

Q: Will the dental schools have my records from previous cycles?

A: Each dental school has its own policy about document retention. Check with designated dental schools. ADEA AADSAS does not keep transcripts and letters of evaluation from previous cycles.
