(ADEA CAAPID℠)

The ADEA Centralized Application for Advanced Placement for International Dentists (ADEA CAAPID℠) is available to all individuals applying to the participating programs. Applicants to ADEA CAAPID are foreign educated dental graduates who wish to practice dentistry in the U.S. or Canada.

ADEA CAAPID includes advanced standing programs which are typically shorter in length compared to traditional D.D.S./D.M.D. degrees. ADEA CAAPID simplifies the application process by allowing you to submit one standardized application, rather than individual applications to each program. Advanced placement programs benefit by receiving uniform information on all applicants.

Learn more about the ADEA CAAPID℠ application process here:

  • Review the ADEA CAAPID Application Instructions.
  • All participating programs have a profile on the ADEA CAAPID Directory. Browse by state. The profiles include contact information, program requirements, and a description of the program.
  • To find out more about becoming licensed in the U.S. and Canada, visit ADEA GoDental.
  • DENTPIN®: It is a personal identification number used in place of the social security number. Every applicant must retrieve a DENTPIN® to initiate an ADEA CAAPID application. Click here to retrieve an existing DENTPIN®.

Bench Test Prep Course for Internationally Trained Dentists

The University of Louisville Office of Continuing Education (ULSD) offers a Bench Test Preparatory Course for International Dentists who are considering applying to Advanced Placement Dental Programs in the United States and Canada. This course is designed for those who wish to receive an introduction to the ideal restorative, endodontic and fixed prosthodontic guidelines. A Periodontal Module will also be presented.

The 3-day course involves didactic and hands-on sessions presented by the University of Louisville School of Dentistry Faculty. Each discipline will present material with expected guidelines. Participants will have the opportunity to practice. This is not a pre-requisite nor does it guarantee admission to any dental school.
