Our thoughts are with our many colleagues, friends and family impacted by this season’s storms. We hope for a swift recovery for all affected.
Building a Culture of Value
In today’s health care and higher education environments, “value” is often reduced to monetary terms, but the concept of value encompasses so much more than financial return. What we value is what we believe to be important and beneficial for our future. And as leaders of the dental education community,
the attention and priority we place on issues becomes a key proxy of their value to others.
At the 2017 ADEA Deans’ Conference we will explore the value of engagement, globally, nationally and locally. We will explore the value of global
engagement, learning from the perspectives of dental education leaders around the world. At the national level, we will discuss the current political and legislative environments and assess the value of action in responding to the new political environment. And at the local (university)
level, we will learn from peers about successful strategies for demonstrating the value of the dental school to the university and about the value
of resilience in the face of increasing burnout and stress among students, faculty and administrators. Most importantly, the conference will provide opportunities for peer-to-peer engagement and interaction, and promote the value of peer learningthroughout the conference.
