2016 ADEA CCI Liaisons Summer Meeting

The ADEA CCI Liaisons celebrated 10 years of the ADEA Commission on Change and Innovation (CCI) in Dental Education with Thinking Innovatively – the 2016 ADEA CCI Liaisons Summer Meeting. ADEA CCI’s success in building consensus of change is based on the expertise, ingenuity, stamina and creativity of its liaisons. Working together and sharing diverse perspectives, ADEA CCI liaisons tackle common issues to arrive at best practices and ultimately lead the charge to systemically, continuously and collaboratively implement change. 

This year, the time had come to reflect upon and acknowledge out accomplishments and to promote continued innovative changes within dental education. The celebration of a milestone – featuring a competitive poster and presentation session with grand prizes – and allowed attendees to immerse themselves in this profound experience filled with unique perspectives and inspired collaboration.

Learning Objectives for the Overall Program:

  • Understand the components of an “innovative” idea.
  • Develop the capacity to assess new innovations for change impact practicality.
  • Apply a framework used in the management of change to analyze a past change effort or to develop a strategy for managing a future change project.

Posters Presented During the Meeting: 

A little friendly competition: This year’s meeting presented a unique opportunity to recognize ADEA CCI Liaisons’ contributions and support their work going forward in a Big Way. In the spirit of accelerating change and collegiality, ADEA CCI Liaisons from the same institution were invited to submit a proposal of “innovation” and compete for top honors.

Over the course of several months, the ADEA CCI Liaisons developed and planned the execution of their innovative ideas or programs. The summer meeting offered ADEA CCI Liaisons a chance to strut their stuff—gaining national recognition and financial support for the execution of their innovative idea. Participants exhibited their posters and were rated by their colleagues on the basis of innovation, significance, collaboration and implementation using a  rubric created specifically for this event.
