ADEA Council of Sections

About the Council

The Council of Sections is composed of 38 Sections and 10 Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that represent major disciplines and various areas of interest in dental and allied dental education. The sections and SIGs are designed to allow members with shared interests to come together to develop program content, policy papers in their fields of practice or areas of interest, provide for professional and social networking, career development and mentoring.

Mission Statement

The mission of the ADEA Council of Sections (ADEA COS) is to represent the many disciplines, administrative functions, and special interests of dental and allied dental education within ADEA and to provide a venue where all these constituencies come together to address contemporary issues influencing education, research, and the delivery of oral health care for the improvement of the health of the public.

ADEA Section and SIG Membership

As an individual member of the American Dental Education Association, you can join one or more of the Association's Sections and Special Interest Groups (SIGs). Membership in these groups provides you with in-depth information and the opportunity to network with others who share similar interests.

Within ADEA, sections are represented in the ADEA Council of Sections. Section members have a voice in the governance of the Association through representation in the ADEA House of Delegates, the policymaking body of the Association. The ADEA COS is also represented on the ADEA Board of Directors by the Board Director for Sections.

As a member of an ADEA Section or SIG, you are automatically a member of the ADEA Council of Sections.
