Institutional Membership

ADEA Institutional Members include accredited dental schools in the United States and Canada, as well as advanced, hospital, allied, and federal dental education programs. Institutions become part of the community that works together to improve education and prepare students for their roles as the oral health care providers of tomorrow. ADEA invites all institutions that support the mission of the Association to become members.

Institutional Membership Categories

Active. An Active Member is a dental school granting a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree as part of an accredited college or university in the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada that has begun instruction of its first class of dental students (a Canadian dental school may select active or affiliate membership). Annual Membership Dues: $25,522 [NOTE: The ADEA Deans Conference assessment ($750) is billed concurrently with membership dues, for a total of $26,272.]


Affiliate. An Affiliate member must be in the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada and may not be eligible for active or provisional membership. Affiliate members are of the following types:

Canadian dental school that is approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada. Annual Membership Dues: $1,815

An academic institution, other than a hospital, conducting an advanced dental education program. Annual Membership Dues: $3,998

A Hospital conducting an advanced dental education program that is not governed by an institutional or provisional member institution. Annual Membership Dues: $984

A dental education program of the United States Air Force, Army, Navy, Public Health Service, or Department of Veterans Affairs or a comparable program of the Canadian government. Annual Membership Dues: $3,922

Programs conducted at the main teaching site of an Institutional or Provisional Member institution but that are not under the administrative control of that Institutional or Provisional Member institution. 

Programs under the administrative control of an Institutional or Provisional Member institution and that are conducted away from the main teaching site of that Institutional or Provisional Member institution. Such programs must be Affiliate Members in order to belong to the Council of Allied Dental Program Directors.

Institutions conducting other dental or allied dental education programs recognized by the ADEA Board of Directors. Annual Membership Dues: $945


Provisional. A Provisional Member is a developing dental school planning to grant a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree as part of an accredited college or university in the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada (a Canadian dental school may select active or affiliate membership). Annual Membership Dues: $25,522
