How do I register for the conference?

Please register online through the link posted on the ADEA website at The registration deadline is Friday, June 6, 2014. Registration is open to all junior faculty and participation is limited to 35 registrants, so register early to guarantee your slot!

Due to the program format, on-site registration is unavailable.

How do I make a hotel reservation?

Reservations can be made by calling the Harraseeket Inn at 207- 865-9377 or 1-800-342-6423 and requesting the ADEA group rate. The negotiated ADEA group rate is $225 per night plus 8% tax per night for a single or double occupancy room. A $25 charge will apply for more than two guests per guest room. The rate is available based on guest room availability up to three days before the event.

A deposit by major credit card of one night’s room rate is required at the time of booking. The deadline for hotel reservations is Wednesday, June 11, 2014. There is no guarantee of the ADEA group rate or room availability for reservations made after the June 11, 2014, deadline.

What If I have to cancel my program registration?

Written cancellations received by June 6, 2014 are fully refundable less a $225 administrative fee. Written cancellations received June 7–27, 2014, will be refunded 50% of registration fee paid. Cancellations received after June 27, 2014, are not eligible for a refund. Refunds will be issued after the program has concluded. Please email cancellation requests to Roberta Morehouse at

What if I want to arrive early or stay after the program?

The ADEA rates (see above) are available three days prior to the program based on guest room availability.

What is the recommend airport and ground transportation for this program?

The recommended airport for this conference is the Portland International Jetport, 24 minutes/21 miles from the Harraseeket Inn. For more information, visit the airport website.

A taxi from the Portland International Jetport (PWM) costs approximately $53 one-way, according to the Taxi Published Flat Rate Guide. Taxi rates are based on normal driving conditions and must be agreed upon before the trip commences.

Additionally, the Harraseeket Inn is accessible from the following major airports: two hours from Manchester Boston Regional Airport (MHT) and 2.5 hours from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). When making your travel arrangements, please keep the following in mind:

The program will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, with breakfast and conclude at noon on Saturday, July 12. When making your travel arrangements, please plan to arrive on Tuesday, July 8, so you may be well rested and ready for the early program start on July 9.

What should I wear?

Attire for the meeting is business casual.

What recreation facilities are available at the Harraseeket Inn?

The Harraseeket Inn is a luxury country inn located two blocks north of L.L. Bean in the village of Freeport, ME. The inn features an indoor pool and two award-winning restaurants, the Maine Dining Room and the Broad Arrow Tavern, set against a backdrop of lovely grounds and gardens.

Additionally, the Harraseeket Inn is within walking distance to many factory outlet stores and restaurants. A list of area recreational activities is available on the hotel website.

If I have a child under the age of 18 with me, what must I know?

ADEA does not allow children to attend any conference functions. If children accompany a participant to the conference, arrangements should be made for their supervision.

The 2014 ADEA Summer Program for Emerging Academic Leaders is a highly interactive experience and participants are expected to attend all meal, reception and team-building activities. You are encouraged to spend your limited “free time” with your peer groups and preparing for the following day’s activities.
