2010 ADEA CCI Summer Liaisons Meeting

ADEA's Commission on Change and Innovation in Dental Education Summer Liaisons Meeting provides an opportunity for ADEA CCI Liaisons to convene with their colleagues, explore new concepts, and expand their capabilities to serve as change agents in their home institutions.

Engaged for Change: Strategies for Moving Forward

Forty-six dental schools sent more than 115 faculty members to participate in a meeting of ADEA Commission on Change and Innovation in Dental Education (ADEA CCI) Liaisons, June 28-30 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. "The ADEA CCI Liaisons are engaged like never before," said Dr. Eugene L. Anderson, Associate Executive Director and Director of the ADEA Center for Educational Policy and Research, "and with our support can develop their projects and grow the effort."

The theme for the meeting was "Engaged for Change: Strategies for Moving Forward," and the goal was to explore the future of dentistry as a profession and how external forces like new oral health professionals, health care reform, information technology, and interprofessional education are forcing the profession to change.

Highlights included a panel discussion by academic deans on "Building Consensus: How to Move the Change and Innovation Agenda Forward at Your School." Also, ADEA CCI Liaisons representing seven different schools presented their group projects. The meeting also provided a chance for small-group discussions, strategy development, and networking sessions.

The ADEA CCI Summer 2010 Meetings also included a June 30-July 1 meeting of the ADEA CCI Oversight Committee.
