2016 ADEA/ADHA Pilot Program for Leadership Essentials for Adjunct Faculty (LEAF)

The 2016 ADEA/ADHA Pilot Program for Leadership Essentials for Adjunct Faculty (ADEA/ADHA LEAF) is a twelve-week online program designed to promote leadership and professional development as well as increase and enhance leadership opportunities. ADEA/ADHA LEAF is designed specifically for part-time dental hygiene faculty members who have worked in academics for a minimum of two years and who are also members of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and/or the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA).

The highly interactive program will be divided into weekly modules facilitated by dental hygiene leaders, and include both synchronous sessions and weekly asynchronous activities.  This program will be conducted via CANVAS, a Learning Management System, through Eastern Washington University. The program will require twice-weekly participation for successful completion.

  1. Secure a mentor and develop a productive working relationship.
  2. Develop a blueprint of future short- and long-term goals via mind mapping.
  3. Review self-assessment inventories to formulate personal leadership style.
  4. Construct a personal mission.
  5. Prepare an updated curriculum vitae.
  6. Develop a personal leadership philosophy.

ADEA/ADHA LEAF is designed specifically for part-time dental hygiene faculty members who have worked in academics for a minimum of two years and who are also members of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and/or the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA). 


Unfortunately, those who fall under the following criteria are NOT eligible for participation in the pilot program. 

  • Have attended the ADEA Allied Dental Faculty Leadership Development Program
  • Have attended the ADHA Unleashing Your Potential Program
  • Reside in Washington, DC or Delaware (due to online education State Authorization Laws)

Qualified applicants should provide the following: 

  1. Personal information.
  2. Professional information.
  3. Brief narrative and short essay.
  4. Nomination letter from program director or dean.

The application period has ended. Applicants were accepted on a first-come, first-qualified basis. If you were selected to attend this program, you were notified prior to August 1, 2016, after which you were given the ability to register.

 

Thanks in part to a grant from the ADEAGies Foundation, the registration fee for this year’s pilot program is subsidized. We are able to offer you a low fee of $300 for the entire course. 

 

Participants of this program will be eligible for 30 CE Credits.

The American Dental Education Association is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider.

ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. The American Dental Education Association designates this activity for up to 30 continuing education credits.
