Welcome to the 2019 ADEA AADSAS Fee Assistance Program (FAP) Cycle:

Welcome to the 2019 ADEA AADSAS® Fee Assistance Program (FAP).  Applicants seeking fee assistance through this program should read below for eligibility and required documents, and follow all of the instructions so that the request can be processed in a timely manner.

ADEA AADSAS FAP is a fee assistance program designed to assist students who demonstrate extreme financial need while applying to ADEA AADSAS. ADEA AADSAS FAP is an independent program offered by the American Dental Education Association and is not affiliated with any government, college or university, scholarship, grant or fellowship program. Approval for fee assistance is at the sole discretion of ADEA AADSAS.

Great News!  2019 ADEA AADSAS FAP applicants will be able to submit a request for fee assistance starting May 15, 2018, to be considered for fee assistance at the start of the 2019 ADEA AADSAS cycle which launches June 5, 2018.  During the soft launch of the 2019 ADEA AADSAS Application cycle, applicants will be given the opportunity to create and start completing the 2019 ADEA AADSAS application.  All FAP applicants will have to create a 2019 ADEA AADSAS account and receive their CAS id# before submitting documents to FAP for review.

For the 2019 ADEA AADSAS FAP cycle, $449 in fee assistance will be provided to applicants who have been approved. This amount will cover the first three dental school designations on your ADEA AADSAS application (the first school at $245, plus two additional schools at $102 each). Once approved, the applicant must submit the ADEA AADSAS application within 14 calendar days to receive the fee assistance.

Applicants are encouraged to apply early to the Fee Assistance Program, as it is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, well in advance of the dental school deadlines. Applicants who submit an ADEA AADSAS application prior to receiving notification of approval for fee assistance will be ineligible.

Mail copies of all required and supporting documents (please do not send originals) to ADEA AADSAS FAP as indicated on the 2019 FAP Cover Form. You only have one opportunity to submit the FAP Cover Form and all required supporting documents. All required documents must be received in one packet, at one time. If you submit your documents without the proper documentation, including the FAP Cover Form, you will be denied for FAP. For questions, please contact FAPAADSAS@adea.org.

The ADEA AADSAS FAP packet must contain the following:

  • 2019 ADEA AADSAS FAP Cover Form (If this document is not attached to the required supporting documents, your request for fee assistance will be denied).
  • Copies of 2017 Federal Income Tax Returns (including the 1040 tax forms, W2s and 1099s) for self, parent/guardian and/or spouse if married.
  • Financial Aid Award Notice from the institution.
  • 2019 ADEA AADSAS FAP Income Verification Form.

If the applicant, parent/guardian and/or spouse did not work during the 2017 tax year, and none of the required financial supporting documents are available, the applicant must write a letter of explanation.

Please be advised: As with all aspects of the ADEA AADSAS application, it is expected that applicants for FAP will not misrepresent themselves. Reporting false information or submitting forged documents could result in the cancelation of the ADEA AADSAS application and notification sent to all dental schools. Be sure to verify that all information and documents provided for the FAP application are valid and accurate.

These documents may be sent to ADEA AADSAS FAP to help determine eligibility for FAP if you do not have any of the tax forms or other required documents. Documents must be accompanied by the 2019 ADEA AADSAS FAP Cover Form and a letter from the appropriate agency.

  • Child support payments
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Proof of Social Security Benefits
  • Proof of Veteran's Benefits

Once the 2019 ADEA AADSAS FAP Cover Form and the required supporting documents are received from the applicant, the standard processing time is four to five business days.
